Surgical Procedures

Many minor operations, typically the removal of skin lesions, I can carry out under local anaesthetic (LA) at my operating room at the Naseby St Clinic in Christchurch, often at the time of the first consultation. Most LA operations I do without sedation but If that is too scarey for you then I can prescribe oral sedative medication (Midazolam) to be taken 45 minutes before the procedure. I do not give intravenous sedation at my clinic. A clinic procedure is much less expensive than a private hospital procedure. However, if you need to be completely asleep (general anaesthesia – GA) then I can book the operation at Southen Cross Hospital or St Georges Hospital (Christchurch) or Manuka St Hospital (Nelson). Often you will not need to stay over night.
